Download Pinterest videos and images
How to download a Pinterest video or image
Video pins and image pins from public boards. Images come at their original upload resolution, not the feed thumbnail.
Video pins and image pins
A pin holds either a video or an image, and one link covers both. Paste it and you get whatever the pin contains — the video for a video pin, the picture for an image pin. There's nothing to choose beforehand.
Why the image is bigger than the one in your feed
The picture Pinterest shows in the feed is a thumbnail sized for the grid. Behind it, Pinterest keeps the original upload, which is usually far larger. Saving the image from your browser, or screenshotting it, gets you the thumbnail; here the original is listed first. That's the main reason to download a pin rather than screenshot it.
App links, short links and country sites
All of these point at a pin and work the same way:
- pinterest.com/pin/… — a pin's own page
- pin.it/… — the short link the app's Share button copies
- in.pinterest.com, pinterest.co.uk, pinterest.com.au and other country sites
Pins you can't reach
A pin has to be visible to someone who isn't signed in:
- Pins on secret boards are only visible to their owner and collaborators.
- Pins from deactivated or removed accounts are gone for everyone.
Videos land in Downloads on Android and in Files on iPhone — where downloads go on your phone shows how to get them into your gallery.
Pinterest downloader questions
Do I get the full-resolution image?
Yes. Pinterest keeps the original upload alongside its display sizes, and the largest available version is listed first.
Do pin.it links work?
Yes — the short link from Pinterest's Share button is followed to the pin.
Do Pinterest sites outside the US work?
Yes. Links from country versions such as in.pinterest.com, pinterest.co.uk or pinterest.com.au are recognised.
Do secret boards work?
No. Secret boards aren't readable without your account, which we never ask for.
Are pins with external links different?
No. The pin's own media is downloaded; the site it points at is irrelevant to the file.
